چکیده

telencephalon at E9.5–10.5 and cortical ventricular zone later than E12.5. Otx, Tcf, Smad and two sites for unknown transcriptional factors are essential to all these activities. The enhancer is well conserved among tetrapods. The mutant that lacks this enhancer demonstrated that the Emx2 expression under this enhancer is indeed essential to diencephalon, telencephalon and cortical development. However, the Emx2 expression is greatly reduced, but present in the enhancer mutant, indicating the presence of another enhancer. The FB enhancer lacks the activity in cortical hem and does not exhibit a graded activity in dorsal telencephalon. These are unique features of the Emx2 expression in mammalian telencephalon that has Cajal-Retzius cells for the layer formation and exhibits area patterning; the second enhancer is most probably unique to mammal.

An essential role for Fgfs in endodermal pouch formation influences later craniofacial skeletal patterning.

Fibroblast growth factor (Fgf) proteins are important regulators of pharyngeal arch development. Analyses of Fgf8 function in chick and mouse and Fgf3 function in zebrafish have demonstrated a role for Fgfs in the differentiation and survival of postmigratory neural crest cells (NCC) that give rise to the pharyngeal skeleton. Here we describe, in zebrafish, an earlier, essential function for Fg...

Expression and functions of FGF ligands during early otic development.

Classical studies have postulated the action of an endomesodermal signal initiating inner ear induction, subsequently followed by a neural tube-derived signal to complete the process of otic placode formation in the surface ectoderm. Members of the Fibroblast growth factor (FGF) gene family have been implicated in these processes. In this review, expression analysis and recent experimental evid...

Ripply3, a Tbx1 repressor, is required for development of the pharyngeal apparatus and its derivatives in mice.

The pharyngeal apparatus is a transient structure that gives rise to the thymus and the parathyroid glands and also contributes to the development of arteries and the cardiac outflow tract. A typical developmental disorder of the pharyngeal apparatus is the 22q11 deletion syndrome (22q11DS), for which Tbx1 is responsible. Here, we show that Ripply3 can modulate Tbx1 activity and plays a role in...

Differential requirements for FGF3, FGF8 and FGF10 during inner ear development.

FGF signaling is required during multiple stages of inner ear development in many different vertebrates, where it is involved in induction of the otic placode, in formation and morphogenesis of the otic vesicle as well as for cellular differentiation within the sensory epithelia. In this study we have looked to define the redundant and conserved roles of FGF3, FGF8 and FGF10 during the developm...

Progressive restriction of otic fate: the role of FGF and Wnt in resolving inner ear potential.

The development of the vertebrate inner ear is an emergent process. Its progression from a relatively simple disk of thickened epithelium within head ectoderm into a complex organ capable of sensing sound and balance is controlled by sequential molecular and cellular interactions. Fibroblast growth factor (FGF) and Wnt signals emanating from mesoderm and neural ectoderm have been shown to direc...
